Feature Plant Euphorbia Diamond Frost

Feature Plant Euphorbia Diamond Frost

Elegant Pots:

This year's Proven Winners plant pick for the annual of the year is the Diamond Euphorbias, and they're a favourite of ours at Mustang as well. Diamond Euphorbias are low-maintenance plants that do well in sun or part-shade. With delicate, continuous white blooms against dark-green foliage, they add elegance to containers, look sleek in baskets and can even be grown as a houseplant. Cultivars include Diamond Mountain, Diamond Frost, and Diamond Snow Euphorbias.

For something with colour to attract hummingbirds and pollinators, try Salvia greggi “Lipstick.” It adds eye-catching height to a container, has continuous blooms, tolerates drought and resists both deer and rabbits.

Toned-Up Beds:

Euphorbias are common additions to perennial garden as well, and you may have noticed one with two-toned blue-grey foliage with cream margins called “Tasmanian Tiger.” This euphorbia stands out in the winter and has long-blooming creamy, chartreuse blooms in the summer.

A two-toned Hydrangea aborescens called “Invincible Ruby” is a Proven Winner's finalist for the year, and it has lovely pink blooms bordered by red. One of our favourite Hydrangeas is “Limelight” which has two-toned creamy, chartreuse blooms that turn pink later in the season. It's particularly sleek in standard form.
